It is drawn by Wangchaoying, a Luochuan artist based in Northern China.
Luochuan is within the Loess Plateau in northern China, featuring "Yao Dongs", sustainable house caves dug into the face of a cliff. Paper cuts adorn the opening surface of the Yao Dong, made by women who engage in a paper cutting tradition. Carrying scissors in their purses, female villagers cut red papers in the shape of animals, deities, and fruits. The paper cuts on their windows indicate that a home is ready to welcome guests. The women now have readapted their paper cutting motifs and shapes onto paint and canvas.
