Full-Time: Head of Operations and Sales
Roots Studio digitizes endangered art from isolated regions, and licenses it as surface patterns for fashion, interior decor, and stationery brands. Through digitization and and a royalty model, indigenous artists are able to access multibillion dollar brands and their desire for gripping aesthetics and stories. They have digitized hundreds of unseen art from 2,000+ artists in India, Syria, China, and Indonesia. Roots Studio’s team of designers, photographers, and technologists have shot for National Geographic Magazine, Getty Images, and the Atlantic, amongst others. Funders include the Co-Founder of Tesla, Echoing Green, MIT, and Stanford.
Roots Studio is looking for a Head of Operations and Sales Associate on a full-time basis. We are looking for a proactive individual with deep experiences in management and bringing organizational structure to a high-growth and creative team. Passion for social entrepreneurship, design, and cultural anthropology is a must.
-Fundraising: Engaging with investors, creating pitch decks, and following through on term sheets and negotiations
-Manage creative team of 8 designers and community organizers
-Administrative: Managing logistics, pilot plans, compensation, bonuses, performance reviews, and day to day routines
-Back End: Database management and upkeep, as new designs/prints are added on a weekly basis, ensure that designs are rotated to ensure fresh look, ensure that SKUs are consistent and systems are in place
-Hiring: Identify potential candidates, training, and developing onboarding guides
-Source pipeline customers, initiate calls, generate, and follow up with leads, including term sheets, contracts, and milestones
- Initiate research to form strategy to target customer segments; determine strategically which customer segments to pursue based on insights
-Ability to develop strong and long-lasting relationships with customers, prospective clients and licensees, maintain and update customer/account details as needed
-Build customized decks for pitch meetings based on target audience
- 5+ year of operations / management experience
- MBA preferred but not required
- Background or passion in design, art, and craft
- Experience or demonstrated interest in working in the rural sector
-Highly organized with ability to set short and long term goals, milestones, and deadlines
-Ability to pitch and negotiate with C-suite decision makers within companies
-Strong communication and negotiation skills, including setting up in-person meetings, phone, slack, and email.
-Remunerations will be commensurate with experience
