The colorful birds hand-embroidered was drawn by Gond artist Dhan Singh Patta from the Patangarh village in Central India, a region the Gond tribe has inhabited for hundreds of years. The birds come from Dhan Singh’s painting The Tree of Life, which depicts birds at dusk returning to the sacred tree where they nest.
